Manager, Communications and Community Engagement

Part-Time (22.5 hours/week)
$37.24 -$41.68 hourly

Our hospital less than 30 minutes northwest of Ottawa, is a multi-site and integrated health service organization offering, acute, long-term care and community programs and services. With approximately 300 staff, 200 volunteers, and a growing number of medical staff, this progressive 105-bed organization is now embarking on a new and expanded nursing home redevelopment project along with an increased focus on patient/resident/client engagement in pursuit of our vision – Together we will create a healthy community.

We are seeking a dynamic individual to complement our leadership team in the position of Manager of Communications and Community Engagement.

This part-time position (3 days per week) reports directly to the President and Chief Executive Officer and will have operational and strategic responsibility for internal and external communications, along with implementing the organization’s robust
community engagement strategies. As a member of the Senior Management Team, the position will support the implementation of the corporation’s strategic plan.

The Role
You are a dynamic and innovative leader with the ability to communicate the organization’s strategic activities
Identifying and implementing community engagement strategies which are focused upon improving our patient/resident/client experience.

  • Degree in communications or marketing
  • Minimum of three years of experience, ideally in a healthcare environment.
  • Membership with International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) or Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) is an asset.
  • Solid track record in: • public relations • oral and written communications skills to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences in a variety of ways
  • Web and social media strategies 
  • Media relations strategies 
  • Community engagement
  • Basic graphic design
  • Organizational and prioritization skills • working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
