POSITION: REGISTERED NURSE

DEPARTMENT: INTENSIVE CARE UNIT

STATUS: PART TIME (B)

SALARY: $34.24 - $49.02

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Intensive Care Unit is a 16-bed unit equipped for arrhythmic and hemodynamic monitoring, with ventilator capability. The ICU provides services that range from post surgical care for adults, to medical supportive care for critically ill patients admitted from the Emergency Department, In-Patient Unit or transferred from other facilities. Cardiac monitoring support for patients who require less observation than intensive nursing care but more critical observation than what can be provided on a Medical or Surgical floor. 

The RN is responsible for establishing therapeutic relationships with patients and their families through application of specialized knowledge, skill and judgement, both in assessing health needs and in planning, implementing and evaluating patient care. 

HOURS:

Must be available for all 11.25 and 7.5 hour tours applicable to the department/unit, and other tours as assigned by the hospital, 24 hour rotation, seven (7) days per week. In addition, the successful candidate must be available on a pre-determined basis for at least one (1) tour per bi-weekly pay period.


SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Registered Nurse, currently registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Graduate of a BSc in Nursing or education and experience that allows the RN to practice at full scope
  • Preference will be given to those with at least one (1) year ICU experience
  • Critical Care Certification through the Canadian Nurses Association preferred.
  • Current BLS-HCP and ACLS required.
  • 5 and 12 lead ECG Rhythm interpretation required
  • Proven assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation skills related to acute medical nursing
  • Ability to assess changing situations quickly and respond accordingly
  • Ability to adapt and work within a constantly changing environment.
  • Proven ability to work independently utilizing strong organizational, leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing/continuous professional development
  • Basic computer skills (Outlook email, Cerner, Electronic Patient Record)
  • Demonstrated acceptable previous performance record in alignment with STEGH's Mission, Vision, Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Excellent attendance record in accordance with STEGH’s Attendance at Work Program

Successful candidates must provide evidence of a fully completed COVID-19 vaccination status prior to your first day of work.
