We are looking for a Warehouse Supervisor at our Mississauga branch. The Warehouse Supervisor will be responsible for supervising and directing the warehouse according to our overall business standards. This position reports to the Eastern Region Operations Manager.

  • Creating and maintaining a safe and productive work environment
  • Working together with manager to ensure all daily responsibilities are attended to in a customer service oriented and productive fashion
  • Lead the team in developing a continuous improvement mindset and process, while recognizing opportunities for changes and implementing them successfully
  • Direct the daily duties of the warehouse personnel which may involve cross-training, assigning staff to different areas of the warehouse and continuous follow up
  • Promoting and ensuring there are appropriate health and safety measures in place and ensuring they are followed by everyone in the warehouse
  • Overseeing the safety for the warehouse
  • Stay up to date on policies, standards, guidelines and company communications to ensure you are able to coach staff, answer questions and change procedures according to all guidelines and policies
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures
  • Lead the JH&SC for the Mississauga branch
  • Deliver daily operational, customer service and safety talks
  • Provide regular feedback and continuous communication to warehouse staff
  • Interview candidates for vacant positions
  • Deliver orientation and training to all new employees and temporary staff working in the warehouse
  • Prepare and deliver annual performance appraisals
  • Attend to customer requests, inquiries and concerns in a professional and prompt manner
  • Responsible for the inventory accuracy, ensure that stock count is checked, and any discrepancies are investigated and corrected
  • Communicate with other branches on stock balance discrepancies and transfers
  • Responsible for opening and closing procedures for the warehouse to our company  standards of security
  • Responsible for meticulous documentation on warehouse attendance in the Time Force system
  • Ensuring all KPI’s are managed regularly and reported on weekly, daily
  • Developing systems and standards of work performance excellence
  • Conducting daily performance talks in accordance to daily score card
  • Ensuring that all operating equipment is in good working order, safety checks are performed and documented and reporting any deficiencies to the Operations Manager immediately.

Secondary (in accordance with Collective Agreement)

  • Load, unload and move products by hand or with basic material handling equipment
  • Operate a variety of equipment to unload and load and move products (sit down counterbalance, reach truck and order picker
  • Weigh products, wrap goods and pack and unpack products
  • Process incoming requisitions which includes picking, checking and packing orders
  • Inspect and verify incoming goods against invoices and other documents
  • Shipment of orders
  • Restock bins
  • Maintain a safe and clean warehouse
  • Other duties and projects assigned as required

Education and Competencies

  • 5 years previous supervisory experience within a union warehousing environment, with a focus on servicing internal branch facilities and external customers
  • Past participation and/or leadership in safety programs
  • Experience with Puro, Loomis, UPS, FedEx, Courier, LTL, and container shipping considered an asset
  • Experience with WMS systems, RF scan, MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Project, CI, and 5S experience is an asset
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Detail oriented
  • Professional and excellent customer service skills
  • A self-starter who takes initiative and sets good example for the warehouse staff
  • A team player who can lead and take direction
  • Ability to give and follow instructions and policy
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Physically able to lift heavy shipments and products between 25 to 50 lbs
  • Ability to operate industrial lift trucks, pallet jack, order picker and forklifts.
