Compensation: $50.62 per hour for a fully qualified person - Plus: Full Benefits Package & Pension Plan.

 **PLEASE NOTE: We can only consider candidates that are a Journeyperson under 313 A - Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic with a gas technician/fitter level 1 ticket.

                Overview of Position: The HVAC Journeyperson installs, troubleshoots, maintains and repairs mechanical machinery and equipment.  As an HVAC Journeyperson, you are familiar with installation and service processes. You use technical drawings, various specs and verbal instructions for planning and accomplishing goals. As a professional, you inspect your own work and meet deadlines. 

                You work cooperatively with other tradespeople such as plumbers, welders, sheet metal workers, sprinkler fitters, electricians, and millwrights.  When assembling large, heavy machinery, you might work with several journeypersons and apprentices.

                Duties and responsibilities: 

                • Plan, prepare and set up for the job
                • Interpret drawings and performs mathematical calculations
                • Identify the appropriate equipment and parts for meeting special or unusual needs
                • Select appropriate materials for each job
                • Rigging and hoisting
                • Decommission and dismantle equipment using ODP protocols
                • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance
                • Diagnose, troubleshoot and have the ability to come up with solutions to fix mechanical problems and keep equipment running smoothly
                • Working with your hands and tools to fix hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic components such as cylinders, pumps, conveyors, motors, valves, and bearing assemblies
                • Working with equipment such as grinders, welders, power and hand tools etc
                • Perform maintenance and service on refrigeration, heating or air conditioning systems
                • Maintaining a record of all the work completed so as to facilitate the accounting activities 

                Skills and Specifications:

                The HVAC 313A Journeyperson position requires a minimum of 3 years’ experience in an industrial or construction environment. 

                **PLEASE NOTE: We can only consider candidates that are a Journey Person under 313 A - Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic with a gas technician/fitter level 1 ticket. 

                • Knowledge of safety precautions related to occupational hazards, procedures and practices of the trade.
                • Must have current working at heights certification, OCOT membership in good standing, transportation of dangerous goods certification, and ODP certification.
                • Skilled in identifying the proper power and hand tools in the safest possible manner and various equipment.
                • Current lock-out and confined space training is an asset.
                • Skilled in operating at least some types of vehicles like trucks, forklifts, elevated work platforms/scissor lifts, etc.
                • Ability to work at shop or travel to client locations.
                • General knowledge of Health and Safety including Occupational Health and Safety Legislation and Regulations for Industrial Establishments and Construction, Hazard Recognition, Material Handling Equipment, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Machine Guarding, and Electrical Safety.
                • Demonstrated ability to protect self and others.
                • Organizational skills ensuring work is performed in an efficient manner.
                • Fluent in English with communication skills including written (reports, timesheets, work orders, etc.); verbal (employees, managers)
                • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle a high volume workload.
                • Available to work on-call for service emergencies through the departmental rotation.
                • Have required tools suitable to construction environments.
                • Occasionally assists with the lifting of heavy and awkward products which may be up to 100 lbs.
                • Bondable, have a valid driver’s license and ability to provide a driver's abstract and criminal background check.
                • Follow company safety policies and safe work practices. 

                Education and Qualifications: 

                • Certificate of Qualification in the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic Trade Code 313-A.
                • Accurate with numbers and enjoy working with them.
                • Basic knowledge of blueprint reading skills.
                • Ability to work with complicated tools, monitors, gases, etc. 

                Working Environment: 

                • The HVAC 313A Journeyperson position requires confidentiality in dealing with our company, as well as information such as specific business objectives and/or financial information of the Company.
                • Fast-paced environment with expectations of timely completion of projects for the client.
                • Working in various locations, both on-site and off-site and may be required to travel to work sites outside the city.
                • Moderate risk of injury, regularly exposed to noise, equipment, chemicals, and temperature variations.
                • May be required to work in confined spaces or in roles that require fall protection.
                • This position requires long periods of standing and walking.
                • May be required to work flexible and/or extended hours in order to address business needs.
