Purpose of Classification:
The purpose of this classification is to respond to CCWA emergency calls, customer complaints, construction accidents, and other problems that occur throughout the water service system, to assess the situation and to initiate corrective action.
Essential Functions:
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Responds to calls regarding broken water mains, problems with wastewater mains, customer complaints, pressure complaints, construction accidents, and other problems.
Assesses the situation and identifies needed repairs: reports details to the foreman; and generates work orders to dispatch repair crews or completes repairs.
Coordinates with Crew Leaders to organize and assist crew activities in order to repair water system problems.
Provides information regarding and/or explains water and wastewater service problems to customers and contractors.
Maintains a log of responses to calls and actions taken.
Makes necessary repairs that can be made without a crew truck being dispatched.
Properly stocks and maintain tools and equipment
Assists other CCWA staff and crews as needed, such as removing locks, installing meters, turning off services, completing repairs, flushing lines, and gathering materials.
Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, within designated timeframes and per established procedures.
Operates a personal computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data, utilizing database, Internet, e-mail, or other software; and operates general office or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions.
Communicates with supervisor, other CCWA employees, contractors, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.
Additional Functions:
This position may require on call assignments.
Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; supplemented by one years of experience in maintenance and repair of utility lines and systems; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. This is considered a Safety Sensitive position.
Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license. The following additional licenses/certifications are required: None

Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert moderate, though not constant physical effort, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and prolonged standing, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of heavy weight (50-100 pounds).
