Job Title: Research & Development Jr. Chemist

Department: R&D

Reports to:  R&D Group Leader, Director of R&D

Afternoon Shift Schedule: 4:00PM - 12:30AM

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist R&D Batch team in daily tasks including working with production, compounding, and other laboratory responsibilities
  • Work with formulators for line trial/pilot batches to troubleshoot and adjust formulas
  • Safely utilize basic lab equipment and chemicals
  • Comprehend and prepare formulations for submissions
  • Work independently while time-managing multiple batches
  • Implement new knowledge into developing improved formulas, products, and/or processes
  • Document all activities in a log book for internal record and external audit purposes
  • Efficiently and accurately work in a fast-paced environment
  • Work directly with Compounding and Production team to ensure products manufactured meet standard
  • Conduct all required performance and tests, interpret, records, and reports results
  • Interface with Production, Compounding, QA, Purchasing and Sales & Marketing as required
  • Assist the R&D team with resolving routine customer and production problems
  • Assist senior lab personnel as necessary
  • Execute special projects as assigned
  • Consistently maintain a safe and GMP working environment while following company policies and SOPs; and ensuring the company’s safety and quality needs are met
  • Work on Saturday shift if required or permanently

 

Qualifications: 

  • 4 year Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from a recognized university or equivalent preferred
  • 1-3 years’ experience in a related manufacturing environment preferred
  • Self-starter, self-motivated with a proactive and process ownership focus
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Strong interpersonal & problem-solving skills and commitment to providing a high standard of quality work
  • Ability to make and meet commitments/deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Consideration will be given to color matching experience in color cosmetics in lieu of education
