Description

This position offers tasks in an assortment of areas including the preparation, service and distribution of regular and special diets and the handling of food in accordance with sanitary regulations for patients, visitors and staff. The dietary aide/cook regularly interacts with patients through tray delivery and removal to nursing stations and patient’s rooms, assists in the cafeteria building rapport with internal and external visitors, and completes catering duties and ware washing responsibilities as a valued member of the nutrition and environmental services team.

Qualifications
- Secondary school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum Assistant Cook Certification
- Minimum one year experience in institutional or commercial food handling and food preparation
- Ability to perform routine tasks (including but not limited to pot washing, dishes, sweeping, mopping, cleaning, food prep)
- Ability to work in accordance with safe food handling practices
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Must be physically able to stand, reach, bend and lift
- Knowledge of WHMIS
- Knowledge of therapeutic diets preferred
- Reliable attendance record
