USM II - Min - $22.36/hour, Mid - $28.51/hour, Max - $34.66/hour

JOB SUMMARY:
The purpose of this position is to perform general, manual labor duties in the installation, maintenance, and repair of the water and wastewater distribution and conveyance system.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Assist in preparing job site; clears access to manhole (using a bush axe or sling blade); Ensures entry and exit is available at excavation site; visually inspects manholes and construction site.
• Locates and identifies water lines, sewer lines, and stormwater lines to be repaired and utilities that must be excavated around.
• Assists in the installation, maintenance and repair of the water lines, sewer lines, and stormwater lines; clears debris from manholes, sewer lines, sewer stream crossings, easements, valve boxes, etc.; diagnoses leaks, blockages or other problems; raises manholes; plasters manholes; builds inverts; cuts in valves, tees, and beds; saw cuts roads and streets; replaces service lines; performs confined space entries in manholes; cleans manholes and lines; and changes out sewer rings and lids on manholes, fire hydrants, grassing, sod, repairs asphalt, concrete, yards and other areas that are disrupted as a result of repair work; may perform smoke testing and manhole inspections, which may include the use of a pole camera, etc.
• Makes sure work sites/roads are clear of debris after job is completed.
• Flags and directs traffic; places markers, signs, and cones around project or work site to ensure safety of crew and the traveling public.
• Gathers tools and equipment needed to complete work activities; loads and unloads materials/equipment, tools, and supplies; cleans and washes equipment and tools; performs preventive maintenance and minor repairs as needed; and notifies crew leader/ supervisor of needed equipment replacements and repairs.
• Operates or uses various equipment, power tools, hand tools, and supplies to complete work assignments; operates and maintains tapping machine, saws, pumps, grouting equipment, tamps, rollers, jackhammers, thumpers, and other tools and equipment.
• Builds, installs, and retrofits meters to bring to standard; repairs water main breaks; replaces water services; replaces fire hydrants; fixes packing and gaskets in vaults; replaces water valves; repairs meters; and flushes water lines.
• Performs other assigned duties.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK: USM I
• High school diploma or GED required; supplemented by one year of work experience that shows an ability to maintain steady employment in any field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job
• Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all CCWA or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.
Preferred Licenses/Certifications: USM I
• Valid Georgia driver’s license.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK: USM II
• High school diploma or GED, plus one year of work experience that shows an ability to maintain steady employment in any field, and any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
• Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all CCWA or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.
Required Licenses/Certifications: USM II
• Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license Class A CDL.
