THE OPPORTUNITY
As a Registration Clerk at GBGH, you will accurately register all emergency and ambulatory care patients in a professional, confidential, and sensitive manner. Additionally, you will perform general clerical duties, function as a unit clerk for the Emergency Department when needed, and provide relief for the switchboard operator. This role also involves contributing to health and safety policies to ensure a healthy environment for staff, physicians, volunteers, learners, patients, and families.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate will possess the following key competencies, record of experience and academic preparation:

  • Secondary school graduate with courses in Medical Terminology and Computers
  • Three months of experience in a medical office environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organization and filing skills
  • Proficiency in keyboarding and current computer skills; ability to handle variable workloads effectively
  • Knowledge in Expanse an asset
  • Capability to utilize relevant computer systems within the Admitting/Registration department
  • Attention to detail to avoid errors that could impact patient care, such as misfiles
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Clear understanding of legislation and guidelines related to the security and privacy of personal health information
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff
  • Capability to meet departmental productivity standards in a busy work environment
  • Ability to work effectively as a team player and demonstrate strong prioritization skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced working environment
  • Demonstrated consistent punctuality and attendance record, maintaining a high level of reliability and commitment to performing duties with efficiency and effectiveness in previous roles
  • Commitment to GBGH Values and Purpose Statement
  • As a partially designated French speaking organization, French verbal and written communication skills are considered an asset in this position

HOURS OF WORK
Part Time. Must be available to work shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the CUPE collective agreement.

COMPENSATION

  • Hourly rate of pay is $25.96-28.56, up to an additional 14% in lieu of benefits and 4% in lieu of vacation to start.
