Description

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all hospital employees in compliance with applicable legislation, organizational policies, and multiple union collective agreements. This role ensures payroll integrity, supports audits, and provides subject matter expertise on payroll-related matters within a complex, unionized healthcare environment.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Payroll, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation required; Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) considered an asset
  • Minimum 3–5 years of payroll experience, preferably in a unionized healthcare or public sector environment
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying multiple collective agreements
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario payroll legislation and statutory requirements
  • Experience with HRIS/payroll systems (e.g., ORMED, Meditech, UKG, or equivalent)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll reporting tools
  • Knowledge of MIS Guidelines an asset
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer knowledge and familiarity with financial accounting software
  • Experience with Payroll and Human Resources functions and General Ledger systems
  • Reliable attendance record
