Position Summary
The Dispatch Manager is responsible for leading the branch delivery and dispatch function while remaining actively involved in day-to-day dispatch operations. This is a hands-on leadership role that oversees the Dispatcher and all branch Drivers, ensuring safe, efficient, and timely deliveries while providing exceptional customer service. The Dispatch Manager works closely with Customer Service, Warehouse, Sales, and the Regional Fleet Manager to coordinate daily delivery activities, driver scheduling, fleet availability, and vehicle maintenance. The role is responsible for the performance, development, and supervision of the delivery team while supporting the branch's operational objectives.
We’re looking for self-sufficient, motivated Dispatch Manager for our Rexdale location at 180 Bethridge Road who want to help us expand our fast-growing business.
Responsibilities
Dispatch Operations
- Perform daily dispatch activities using Samsara and other systems.
- Plan and schedule deliveries to maximize route efficiency and driver productivity.
- Dispatch drivers throughout the day through phone, text, and dispatch software.
- Monitor deliveries and adjust schedules as operational needs change.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers regarding scheduling, route changes, and work assignments.
- Coordinate with Customer Service, Warehouse, and Sales teams to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
- Manage customer inquiries and resolve delivery issues in a professional and timely manner.
- Book, plan, and track the movement of customer freight.
People Leadership
- Directly supervise all branch Drivers and the Dispatcher.
- Schedule drivers and dispatch staff to meet operational requirements.
- Recruit, onboard, train, and coach employees.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback and development.
- Manage attendance, vacation scheduling, overtime, and daily staffing requirements.
- Address performance, conduct, and attendance concerns through coaching and corrective action when required.
- Promote a positive, respectful, and accountable team environment.
- Ensure drivers comply with company policies, transportation regulations, and safe operating procedures.
Safety & Fleet Coordination
- Promote safe driving practices and reinforce compliance with company safety policies.
- Monitor driver performance through Samsara and address concerns as appropriate.
- Ensure drivers complete required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and promptly report defects.
- Work closely with the Regional Fleet Manager to coordinate preventative maintenance, repairs, inspections, licensing, and corrective maintenance to maximize fleet availability and ensure vehicles remain safe and compliant.
- Coordinate vehicle downtime with branch operations to minimize disruptions to customer deliveries.
- Investigate delivery incidents, vehicle accidents, and customer complaints, partnering with the Regional Fleet Manager and Health & Safety as required.
- Ensure transportation documentation and required records are completed accurately and maintained in accordance with company policies.
Operational Support
- Maintain regular communication with branch leadership regarding delivery needs and operational issues.
- Identify opportunities to improve dispatch processes, routing efficiency, and communication between departments.
- Support branch operations by assisting with other operational duties as required.
Requirements

Minimum 3–5 years of experience in dispatch, transportation, logistics, or fleet coordination.

Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

Strong knowledge of dispatching, routing, and transportation operations.

Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Customer-focused with the ability to resolve issues professionally and effectively.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Samsara and Divalto is considered an asset.

Experience in the construction, roofing, or building materials industry is considered an asset.

Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime and occasional weekends, as operational needs require.
