Job Description

We are looking for a full time SolidWorks Draftsperson to work with our team in designing metal elements, preparing 3D models and shop drawings. We are looking for a team player who is interested in growing with the business and becoming part of our team.

Being able to think about different details for many projects running concurrently will make the candidate successful. Having relevant experiences will certainly help to learn and pick things up quickly. Good communication skills and attention to detail is crucial for success in this position.

Main Duties:

• Work with supervisors to prepare drawings for clients’ review.
• Prepare shop drawings, work with CNC and Fabrication team to complete projects.
• Validate designs and confirm dimensions are accurate based on site measures.
• Ensure customer specifications are met and relevant components are accounted for (e.g. electrical, automation hardware, mechanical system).
• Do material take offs.
• Prepare files and layouts for water jet cutting machines and CNC machines in house.
• Provide support to Production team on your drafted projects.
• Solve issues on the fly and integrate solutions for future projects.

Requirements:

• Proficient in SolidWorks 3D CAD Software.
• Strong mechanical aptitude through a combination of education or experience.
• Effective communication skills regarding mechanical components, fabrication techniques, assembly, and installation techniques.
• Mechanical engineer/technician, drafting technician, welder, fabricator, or millwright with drafting experience would be preferred.
• Working knowledge of materials in terms of machinability, welding, strength, corrosive resistance, compatibility is an asset.
• Working knowledge of structural systems, load capacity in design and bolt sizing an asset.
• Computer software competence.
• Able to understand dimensions in metric and imperial systems.
• Must have a “Safety First” mentality.
