Responsibilities
Tasks
- Analyze construction drawings, specifications, proposals, and contract documents to prepare cost estimates.
- Calculate quantities of materials, labour, and equipment required for construction projects.
- Solicit and evaluate quotations from subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for residential, commercial, industrial and civil excavation services, including underground utilities, site servicing, earthworks, roadworks, and municipal infrastructure projects.
- Develop and maintain databases of material, labour, and equipment costs.
- Prepare tender submissions, bid packages, and pricing proposals.
- Review and analyze project risks and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Conduct site visits to assess project conditions and gather estimating information.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and client consultations.
- Monitor project budgets and compare actual costs against estimated costs.
- Review change orders and prepare cost estimates for project modifications.
- Negotiate pricing with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Assist in contract administration and procurement activities.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, and project stakeholders during project planning and execution.
- Prepare project schedules and assist in tracking project milestones.
- Monitor project progress to ensure compliance with budgetary objectives.
- Prepare progress reports, cost reports, and project forecasts for management and clients.
- Support project managers in resource planning and project execution.
- Review project documentation and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
- Maintain estimating records and project cost documentation.
- Participate in project closeout activities, including final cost reconciliation and post-project analysis.
- Coordinate project activities between clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Track project deliverables and assist in managing project timelines.
- Facilitate project meetings and document action items.
- Assist with procurement planning and subcontractor selection.
- Monitor construction progress and report budget variances.
- Develop and implement cost control procedures.
- Support quality assurance and project documentation processes.
