Conteco Manufacturing is growing, and we’re looking for a Tool & Die Maker (Machinist) to join our tooling and mold-making team. This is a great opportunity to learn from senior machinists and mold makers with decades of experience while working on high-precision components used in injection and blow molding.

Role Summary

The Machinist will be responsible for building, maintaining, and repairing Blow Molds using manual machining, EDM, hand-fitting, and precision tooling techniques. This role combines machining, EDM operations, bench fitting, and mold troubleshooting. This is a hands-on, craftsmanship-focused position ideal for a toolmaker who takes pride in precision work, problem-solving, and mentoring junior technicians in a traditional toolroom environment. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally with Engineering & Production to deliver reliable tooling, optimize cycle time and quality, and support continuous improvement.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Build, assemble, and commission new molds and tooling
  • Perform mold repairs and refurbishments (bench work, fitting, grinding, hand tools)
  • Operate manual mills, lathes, surface grinders, and standard toolroom equipment
  • Perform hand-fitting, polishing, and finishing to tight tolerances (+/- 0.0005")
  • Fabricate replacement mold components as needed
  • Diagnose mold performance issues and resolve part defects (flash, short shots, warpage, etc.)
  • Contribute to 3S/toolroom organization and preventative maintenance programs

Requireements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in mold making and toolroom machining
  • Strong manual machining background (mills, lathes, grinders, hand tools)
  • Skilled in precision bench work, mold tear-down, fitting, repair and polishing
  • Familiarity with blow mold mechanisms is an asset
  • Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings, prints, and GD&T
  • Ability to diagnose molding defects and recommend corrective actions
  • Strong blueprint reading and DRO skills
