Position

Lead Technician – Off-Highway Equipment

We are a locally owned waste management and sustainability company serving Greater Victoria since 2000. We are seeking an experienced Lead Technician to oversee the maintenance, repair, and reliability of our heavy off-highway and material-handling equipment.

We take pride in fostering a workplace built on safety, teamwork, accountability, and respect. Whether you're on the front lines serving customers, maintaining equipment, supporting operations, or working behind the scenes, every role plays an important part in our success.

This is a full-time, permanent position with a Tuesday to Saturday schedule from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM. A company service truck, laptop, cell phone, coveralls, and a fully equipped shop are provided.

 

Wage

  • Starting at $48/hour, flexible based on experience
  • Additional wage premiums available for Class 1 or Class 3 drivers

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, service, and repair loaders, excavators, telehandlers, and other heavy equipment
  • Lead preventative maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime
  • Coordinate maintenance activities, parts, and external service providers
  • Supervise and mentor technicians and apprentices
  • Track maintenance history and equipment performance using fleet management software
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements
  • Support continuous improvement and asset reliability initiatives

 

Qualifications

  • Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician certification
  • Experience repairing and maintaining off-highway and stationary heavy equipment
  • Valid Class 5 driver's licence (Class 3 an asset)
  • Experience with fleet management/work order software (Fleetio an asset)
  • Must supply personal hand and power tools relevant to the trade

 

Work Location

  • Home base: Saanichton, BC
  • Combination of shop-based and field service work
  • Supporting operations throughout South Vancouver Island
