LOW BED DRIVER
We are seeking an experienced Low Bed Driver to safely transport heavy equipment, machinery, and oversized loads using a low-bed trailer. The successful candidate will be responsible for loading and securing equipment, conducting vehicle inspections, planning routes, and ensuring all deliveries are completed safely and on time while complying with transportation regulations. The ideal candidate is also experienced in operating heavy equipment.

Key Responsibilities
- Operate low-bed and heavy-haul trucks safely and efficiently.
- Transport heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, bulldozers, and other machinery.
- Load, unload, position, and properly secure equipment and oversized loads.
- Inspect trucks, trailers, chains, straps, binders, and other securing equipment before each trip.
- Complete daily vehicle inspection reports and maintain required documentation.
- Plan and follow safe and efficient routes, including routes suitable for oversized or overweight loads.
- Ensure compliance with provincial and federal transportation regulations.
- Obtain and follow requirements for permits, escorts, and weight restrictions when required.
- Communicate professionally with dispatchers, customers, site supervisors, and other drivers.
- Maintain accurate trip, delivery, and equipment records.
- Report vehicle defects, accidents, delays, or other issues promptly.
- Keep the truck and trailer clean and in good operating condition.
- Follow all company health, safety, and environmental policies.
Qualifications
- Valid class 1 commercial driver's licence.
- Previous low-bed, flat-deck, heavy-haul, or equipment-transport experience preferred.
- Experience hauling heavy construction or industrial equipment.
- Experience operating heavy equipment.
- Knowledge of load securement requirements and oversized-load regulations.
- Good understanding of vehicle weights, dimensions, and weight distribution.
- Strong safety record and professional driving habits.
- Ability to perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours and extended trips when required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to climb onto and around trucks and trailers.
- Ability to inspect and secure loads using chains, binders, straps, and related equipment.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with loading and securing equipment.
